A fourty-something agoraphobe who's inherited a house on the edge of infinity, Catherine--or Aunt Cathy--tries her best to keep the world from overwhelming her and her nephew.

Nicodemus Ramm
Catherine's 14 year old nephew, a borderline genius who grew up on his mother's conspiracy theories. The Hallway seems to have a strange influence over him, moreso than Catherine. He kept his father's surname after his death, despite his mother's protests.

Esperanza "Espie" Moreno
Catherine's older and more beautiful sister, once widowed and twice divorced. A consumate cultural rebel with a love for the strange and outre--as well as fashion and cosmetics--Esperanza is fiery where Catherine is cold and cold where Catherine is fiery. Not the best mix, suffice to say.

Nicodemus "Big Nico" Moreno
Catherine's oldest sibling, the original Nicodemus shared the same mother as Espie and Catherine, but an unknown father. Affable and gregarious, Big Nico died at the age of 48 due to a heart attack.

The Hallway Cast:
Nicodemus "Niki" Ramm
A female version of Nico who escaped into the Hallway shortly after meeting the original Nico, Niki is resourceful if a bit bashful.

Nicodemus "the Rake" Ramm
A delinquent version of Nico who got lost in the Hallway long before Nico could reach and catalog his door, he claims to be content as a wanderer living by his wits.

Nicodemus "Emanuel" Ramm
A third alternate Nico, this one even quieter than the others. Not much is known about him except that he seems terribly pale and withdrawn.

Nicodemus "the Dog" Ramm
The last of Catherine's Nicos--for the time being--is Nico, but a dog. The Siberian Husky seems, quite to Catherine's frustration, to be the smartest of the Nicos, and seems to have an intuitive understanding and command of the mechanics of the Hallway.
